Beverly Atkinson, 84, of Meridian, died Monday, October 9, 2107 at a local care center.
Beverly was born in Hasting, Nebraska, and in 1934, moved with her family to a farm south of Wendell, Idaho. She graduated from Wendell High school and attended Boise Junior College (now BSU) for two years. After college, she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. in Twin Falls, Idaho. On August 16, 1953, she married Dean Atkinson, and they moved to Spokane, Washington. There Beverly worked for the Telephone Co. In March 1955, she and Dean moved to a farm in Hazelton, Idaho. In March 1959, they moved to Mtn. Home, Idaho where they made their home for 48 years. During this time, they owned a lot in Featherville, Idaho where they and had many good times with friends and family. Beverly worked as a Cook for the school district, as a Telephone Operator on Mtn. Home Air Force Base, and finally as a representative for Avon before retiring.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dean Atkinson; a daughter, Debra Baker and husband Bill; a son David Atkinson and wife Irma; 4 grandchildren, Nick Baker, Jessica Atkinson, Shawn Atkinson, and Lindsay Atkinson; two brother-in-laws Lou Atkinson and wife Lillian of Milwaukee, WI, and Don Atkinson of Twin Falls, ID; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Beverly’s life will be held at 11:00 AM with a viewing one hour prior on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Meridian United Methodist Church, 240 E.
