Matilda A. (Tillie) Hanson, 95, passed peacefully Dec. 2, 2017, at the Idaho State Veterans Home with her husband of 70 years at her bedside. Tillie was born March 14, 1922 in Racine WI, the 10th of 13 children. She was a Navy WAVE during WWII, served in Hawaii, and met her Navy husband, Robert A. (Bob) Hanson in Seattle WA. They married in 1947, and after being discharged, moved to Butte MT, Bob’s home town, where they lived for 57 years. They enjoyed camping, fishing and skiing with family and friends.
In 2005, they moved to Valley View Retirement Community in Boise, ID to be near children. Tillie's last few years were at Spring Creek Memory Care and Idaho State Veterans Home, where she received great love and care.
Tillie was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary in Butte. She supported the Disabled American Veterans and numerous charitable organizations.
Tillie is survived by her husband Bob; son, Bob (Kathy) Hanson (Boise); adopted daughter, Carol McIntosh (Boise); daughters: Bonnie (Pete) Ministrelli (Livonia, MI) and Jo Anne (Mike) Wortman (Boise); daughter-in-law, Sue Hanson (Mukilteo, WA), 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Nita Wilson (Butte). Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters; her son, John Hanson (2005); and great-granddaughter, Jasmine Deradourian (2016).
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the wonderful people who were involved in Tillie’s care during the last few years. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to your favorite charity, Our Lady of the Rockies, or a Veterans organization.
