He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He spent time stationed in Japan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, California, the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and Virginia. He retired from the Navy in 1968. He worked for the Norfolk Virginia City Health Department until 1972. Nancy passed away in 1995. Bill met Leona Harrison Stitt and they married in 2000. Bill and Leona lived in Meridian, ID. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and wintering in Yuma, AZ during their years of retirement.
Bill enjoyed camping and fishing, especially around Lowman, ID. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and passed that love on to several of his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting pheasants and squirrels in his younger years. He also had many boyhood adventures along the Mississippi River. He always found great pleasure in visiting with his great grandchildren. He would go to great lengths to get them to smile…and they loved it! He spent a lot time working on his family genealogy. He also was a country music fan. However, his all-time favorite thing was chocolate ice cream…guaranteed to make his eyes light up!
