Maureen Steinbroner, 89, of Eagle, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at a local hospital.Born Maureen Kathryn Trowbridge on Feb 11, 1928 in McGill, Nevada, the daughter of Charles Donald Trowbridge and Catherine (Ryan) Trowbridge. When she was five months old, her father’s business was completed in Nevada and the family moved back to their home in Los Angeles, California.
Maureen graduated from Nativity Catholic School and Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. At the age of 17 she went to work for Security First National Bank. By the time she was 19 she was the head bookkeeper and the bank paid her tuition to attend The American Institution of Banking. Maureen rose to the highest position a woman could attain, under normal circumstances, in that era. She loved working for the bank where she made life-long friends.
Maureen married Fred Steinbroner on May 28, 1949 and three sons came from the union. The family moved from Los Angeles to Torrance in 1955 and to Palos Verdes in 1963. Fred and Maureen owned Steinbroner Automatic Transmission Service in Inglewood, California for over 40 years and were pioneers in that specialty of automotive repair.
Fred and Maureen retired in 1988 and moved to Meridian, Idaho. They were married 60 years when Fred passed away in 2009. Maureen was preceded in death by her sons Frederick James Steinbroner III and William Kevin Steinbroner, her husband Frederick James Steinbroner Jr., and her brother Charles “Chas” Donald Trowbridge Jr. She is survived by her son Charles (Linda) Earle Steinbroner, grandchildren Tami (Bob) Clark and Ryan (Desiree) Steinbroner, Great-grandchildren Max and Sophia Clark, Isaac Peters, and Anna and Ben Steinbroner.
