Paul Berther, 73, of Meridian passed away at home, following a short illness, on November 5, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Paul was born January 10, 1945 in Disentis, Switzerland as one of seven brothers and sisters. Shortly after finishing school, he met his future wife, Franziska, while both were working in Zermatt, Switzerland. They married in 1972 and immigrated to the United States, landing in Olympic Valley, California and moving to Boise, Idaho in 1978. Paul became a citizen of the United States of America on April 10, 1979. He considered this one of his proudest moments.
Paul spent the first part of his career working as the Mountain Manager at Bogus Basin Mountain Resort. He finished his career working with precision metals at Northwest Machining and Manufacturing for 24 years. Paul poured his heart into his work and his work ethic and attention to detail were often complimented. He believed that a job worth doing is a job worth doing well.
Paul was a kind and gentle soul and would do anything for the people he cared about, especially his wife of 46 years. Paul is survived by his wife Franziska (the love of his life); children, Matthias and Elvira; and grandchildren Natasha, Sierra, Alainna, Angelina, Hudson, and Gunnar.
Paul, husband, father, grandfather, and friend: We love you, admire you, appreciate you, and honor you. Thank you for everything you did for us. We treasure the time we had with you and will miss you dearly. We love you so much.
