Edmond "Ed" DeGuelle, 92, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019 at 11:35pm with his wife Gloria by his side. This past April, they had celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. Ed was born in Rupert, ID on July 4th, 1926 to parents Eva and Edmond DeGuelle. Ed's father passed away when he was two and after his mother remarried, the family moved to Norwood, Colorado where Ed grew up and met Gloria. The couple lived in 7 states throughout their life and moved over 35 times. Together they had twin daughters Susie and Sharon, and spent their lifetime surrounded by family and friends.
Ed was a hard working family man with many talents. He had a successful career as a business owner of "Ed's Home Remodeling". He and Gloria spent their "retirement" flipping houses until they were in their 70s. Even at the age of 90, Ed would frequently be seen working in his yard mowing, gardening, and repairing the house or his cars. He loved to stay busy. He was a gifted artist throughout his life and painted beautiful landscapes of the Colorado Mountains, which in his heart he always considered home. In his later years he enjoyed camping trips with family and friends, and volunteered at the Nampa Warhawk Air Museum.
Ed was inspiration of strong work ethic, resilience, and love for his beloved Gloria, family, and friends. His devotion to his family and faith in his Lord Jesus Christ gave him fulfillment and happiness throughout his life.
The family extends our upmost gratitude to Horizon Hospice and Overland Court Senior Living for the many wonderful people who cared for Ed during his final days.
Ed is preceded in death by his mother, Eva, father, Edmond, and siblings Albert, Bobby, Lilly, and Gene. Ed is survived by his wife Gloria; daughters Susie Spriggs (Ken) of Montrose, Colorado and Sharon Haviland of Nampa, ID; granddaughters Rebecca Smetana (Sasha), Christina Miles (Christopher), Tami Schaller (Andy), and Mandy Gerhardt (Corbin); great-grandchildren Nate and Sam Smetana, Jax and Hendrix Miles, Chloe and Beau Schaller, and Brydger Gerhardt; as well as his sister Norma Campbell (Lyman) and many extended relatives.
