Obituary of William Bill Caouette

William “Bill” Henry Caouette, 83, of Star, Idaho, passed away on February 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd. in Meridian. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Accent Funeral Home, 1303 N. Main St. in Meridian. Bill was born in Winchendon, Massachusetts on March 27, 1929. He was the first of 8 siblings. He spent his youth working on the family farm and later had his own small dairy. Bill first became involved in the restaurant business in Keene, New Hampshire. In 1959, he moved to Bishop, California where he owned and operated two restaurants for several years. In 1966 he moved to Southern California where he owned and operated the Tale of the Whale Restaurant in Newport Beach for 33 years. The restaurant business was the center of his life. He made long lasting friendships with customers and employees. They were often entertained by Bill’s humor and enjoyed his unending generosity. It was at the restaurant where he met the love of his life, Judy. Their marriage led to a love for Idaho, where upon Bill’s retirement they moved to be close to family. Always a fan of sports, Bill spent countless hours cheering on his grandchildren in their sporting events, where he could be counted on to be the first to arrive. His hobbies included cooking, reading and golf. He took pride in making a hole in one while playing golf with two of his grandsons. Bill is survived by his wife, Judy; his sister, Anita Piermattei, Keene, NH; children: Bill Jr. (Paula) Caouette, Winchendon, MA; Dennis Caouette, Winchendon, MA; Carole Smith (Jerry), Nampa; Theresa Wilson (David), Nampa; Anita Kiser (David), Parma; Robert Caouette, Boise and 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by parents, Evelyn and Henry Caouette; sisters: Betty, Mary, Alice; brothers: Ted, Jim and George; son, Steve and grandson, Steve Jr. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to St. Vincent de Paul, Holy Apostles Conference, 6300 N.
