Obituary of Erma Corrine Lyda
Erma Corrine Tomlinson Canfield Lyda, age 82, of Meridian, Idaho died January 23, 2013 as a result of Parkinson’s disease.
Erma was born to Ray Martin Tomlinson and Elsie Charlotte Tomlinson (Rush) in Red Oak (Montgomery County) Iowa on January 23, 1931. She grew up on the family farm riding her pony to country school and then attended junior high and high school in Red Oak. She married John D. Canfield and had three children, Alan, Cynthia and Mark Canfield. They farmed in Iowa until relocating to Boise, Idaho in 1958. They were later divorced.
She married John ‘Cliff’ Lyda in 1989. They enjoyed spending their retirement years together. She was a wonderful cook and loved to garden. She generously shared the bounty from her garden with her family, friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her children, Mark Canfield (Carlene) and grandsons: Thomas and Kirk of Eagle Idaho; Cynthia Nemec (Robert) and grandchildren: Amy Dusseau (Justin) of Meridian, Idaho and Justin Nemec (Christina) of New Meadows, Idaho. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Joyce Canfield of Marsing, Idaho and grandson, Fred Bier (Lynn) of Nampa, Idaho. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Haley, Hanna and Benjamin Dusseau; Wyatt, Rebecca and Emily Nemec and Nikki and Casey Bier. Other survivors include her sisters: Faye Wookey and Lois Woodfill of Iowa, Fern Taylor of Nebraska and sister-in-law, Lavern Tomlinson of Arkansas.
She was predeceased by her husband, John ‘Cliff’ Lyda; her son, Alan Canfield; her brother, Dean Tomlinson and sister Ruby Arnold.
Services and a viewing will be held at 11:00 am Monday January 28, 2013 at Ten Mile Christian Church, 3500 W Franklin Rd, Meridian, Idaho, 83642. Private burial will be at Meridian Cemetery. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.
