Obituary of Lois Wheeler

Lois Ailene Wheeler entered heaven Friday evening, April 6, 2012 at a local hospital surrounded by family. Lois was born December 18, 1924 in Boise to Newell and Amy Miller Wheeler. She attended Ten Mile Grade School and graduated from Meridian High School in 1942 and from B.J.C. in 1944 with her teaching certification. She began her career at Mora School, continuing her goal for a degree in elementary education at the U of I, graduating from there in 1951. Her teaching career continued at Kuna and then in Coquille, OR and in France and Germany at Air Force Schools. Returning to the states she spent her years until retirement at McKinley Elementary School in Boise. She was a gracious, compassionate, Christian lady as well as an outstanding educator. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, oil painting, quilting, cards and events at the Kuna Senior Center. Lois loved to travel especially to the Oregon Coast and to the family cabin at Warm Lake. She was a charter member of Ten Mile Community Church. Lois was loved, and her friendship and mentoring appreciated, by countless friends and family. The family would like to thank Overland Court for the love and care shown to Lois over the last four years as she made her home there. Lois is survived by her brother Aden and his wife Doris. Nieces and nephews: Ted (Linda), Peggy (Ron), Adrianne (Mark), John (Darlene), Clint (Debbie), Debbie (Harley), Don (Darlene), Connie, and their families who collectively and individually loved and admired their Aunt Lois. She is also survived by many cousins, former students, colleagues and other relatives and friends, including a friend for over 60 years, Ina Mae Hanford and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and her brother Clinton and his wife Viola. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 11th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Accent Funeral Home (1303 N. Main Street, Meridian). On April 12th, a committal service will be held at Cloverdale Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. and a memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Ten Mile Community Church (4440 E. Columbia Rd., Meridian, ID). A reception and lunch will follow. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Memorials may be made to Ten Mile Community Church, the Boise Rescue Mission or a charity of your choice. Remembrances may be left online for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.
