Obituary of Jim Seibel

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of James Lee Seibel.  The first child of Walt and Fern.  Jim was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on May 30, 1937.  After several moves and the arrival of two brothers and two sisters, the family finally landed in Caldwell, Idaho. Jim graduated from Nampa High School in 1955. Fishing its rivers, hunting the mountains and logging the woods, Idaho was Jim’s paradise and it was here he would be introduced to his lifelong passion of rodeo.  One ride was all it took and he was hooked.  Jim would spend the next 22 years riding and winning in Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and more. Including winning the Idaho State Bareback Championship in 1959 and 1962.

Rodeo doesn’t last forever and Jim hung up his spurs and used his wit, charm and great storytelling abilities to become a very successful farm equipment salesman for Hesston where he traveled the same territory he once rodeoed.

In 1967, Jim met the love of his life, Marion Currie.  They settled down and built their dream home on a farm in Nampa with Jim’s daughter Jami and Marion’s daughter Lori. Later, Amy was born into the family.  Jim and Marion continue to reside in the family home.

After retirement, Jim devoted his time to golf and gardening where he grew his own ingredients for his beloved salsa that he enjoyed giving to friends and family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marion; daughters: Jami, Lori, Amy (Brian); brothers: Larry, Walt (Sandi); sister: Diane (Chuck); nieces: Tonya, Cara (Travis), Sara (Monte), Holly (KC); nephew: Cody (Melissa); and many great nephews and great nieces.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Walt and Fern Seibel; sister, Barbara Martell and niece, Mandy Hite.
