Barry Annala

Obituary of Barry John Annala

Barry John Annala passed away suddenly at his home in Kuna, ID on February 4, 2022.

Barry was born on May 13, 1955 to Mary Jane and Waino “Bud” Annala in Great Falls, Montana. He was a graduate of C.M. Russell High School and after graduating, he attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York and then Cal Maritime Academy in Vallejo, California where he earned his naval credentials to become a ship captain. He spent the earlier part of his career in the Merchant Marines and later worked for many years for Sedco Oil Company. His many years at sea took him to many different destinations all over the world.

Barry married the love of his life, Jan Bleyhl, in Great Falls, Montana. During their 38-year marriage, they frequently traveled together to explore the places Barry visited by sea. Together they were avid dog lovers and became parents to many Bassett Hounds and even a few cats. After early retirement, Barry enjoyed discovering his talents and hobbies including playing the fiddle and banjo, wood carving, painting, baking bread, and canning to name a few.

With the recent loss of his wife Jan, Barry moved to Idaho where he spent the last year and a half of his life to be near his brother/nephew John and his family.

Barry was a kind-hearted soul that was truly broken-hearted with the loss of his beloved Jan. He left us too soon, but there is comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with her and the rest of his family. He will forever be missed.

Barry was preceded in death by his wife Jan, his parents Mary Jane Lucas Annala and Waino “Bud” Annala, his sister Janey Nelson Annala, and most recently his brother Robert Annala.

He is survived by his brother/nephew John Annala (Catherine), his great-nephews Lucas and Evan Annala of Meridian, ID, his niece Beth Annala and his sister-in-law Jennie Annala of Colorado Springs, CO, his Uncle Bill and Aunt Viola Annala and many Annala cousins in Geyser, Montana along with relatives in Washington, Minnesota, and Mississippi. He is also survived by his sweet pet Boston Terrier, Mary Jane “M.J.”

A celebration of life ceremony will be held later this summer for family in Great Falls, Montana.
