Obituary of Alice Germaine Kuehlthau
Alice Germaine Kuehlthau, 76, of Meridian, passed away, Sunday, March 12, 2023 at a local hospital.
Alice was born January 26, 1947 in Bakersfield, California, to Harold V. Gannon and Mildred (DeBolt) Gannon. She graduated from Arvin High School in 1964 and enrolled in Bakersfield Jr. College, before transferring to Idaho State University School of Pharmacy. It was there she met Hugh W. Kuehlthau. They married on March 18, 1972. Alice graduated in 1972, but chose to stay home and raise their two wonderful children: a daughter, Catherine, born in 1974; and son, Michael born in 1976.
Alice and Hugh moved first to Chicago, Illinois, where Hugh was from, then to Omaha, Nebraska. The family resided there for several years. Alice, always strong in her faith, taught religious studies for several years at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Sadly, in 1989, Hugh passed away. At this time, Alice decided to go back to school. She enrolled at University of Nebraska to update her pharmacy degree. She passed her pharmacy license test and worked at various pharmacies in Omaha.
In 1996, Alice moved to Nampa, Idaho to be closer to her family. She worked at Super Thrift/True Value in Parma, Idaho, as their Pharmacist.
Alice has always been a devout catholic. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church for years and then Holy Apostles Catholic Church. She was a strong, resilient woman with unbelievable faith and hope. Her happiest times were when she was with her family, for which she had unending, unconditional love. Her grandsons were her pride and joy. The only thing that came close to her love for family was her love of animals. Especially all the dogs she has loved during her lifetime. Alice will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (John) Muir, of Meridian, Idaho; son, Michael (Rhonda) Kuehlthau, of Papillion, Nebraska; brother, William Gannon, of Newburg, Oregon; grandsons: Vincent Kuehlthau and Ronan Muir; sister-in-law, Ginny (Russ) Centanni; several nieces, nephews and beloved family and friends.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Kuehlthau; sisters: Dorothy Gannon and Pauline Gannon; brother, John Gannon; niece, Stacey Gannon; and nephew, Jon Gannon.
