Obituary of Terry Gail Hess
Terry Gail Hess, 60, of Kuna, Idaho, joined his Savior Jesus Christ at approximately 6:30am on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Terry succumbed to a cardiac event while training for an upcoming Ironman Sprint Triathlon.
Terry was born November 26, 1962, in Lancaster, PA, to Dayton Hess and Nancy Stoner. Terry went on to meet his forever sweetheart Sandra (Sandy) DeGregorio on the school bus in Cooks, PA. Terry never missed an opportunity to say he knew he would marry Sandy the moment he saw her. Terry and Sandy were married in 1980 and Terry went on to join the United States Air Force.
They welcomed their first born child, Miranda, in 1980 in Huntingdon, PA. Then delivered their son, David, at Lakenheath AFB, UK, in 1984. They then had their daughter, Sarah, at KI Sawyer AFB in 1986.
Terry received orders to Mountain Home AFB, ID, in 1994. His achievements in the Air Force were numerous and he was proud of each rank promotion and retired in 2000 in the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and served as the First Sergeant for the 389th Fighter Squadron.
Terry went on to work at Western Aircraft (Boise, ID), C.V. Starr Insurance (Atlanta, GA) and was enjoying his position at WCF Insurance (Sandy, Utah) as a Safety and Risk Specialist. Terry was proud to obtain his MAS, CSP, and ARM. Terry recently started his own LLC.
His life pursuit was spending as much time as he could in God’s creation. If it involved the outdoors, exercise, aviation, or hunting, you could count on Terry Hess to be there and to be one of the best. Terry both expected the best and gave the best of himself daily. He will forever be remembered for his talents as a hunter, athlete, friend, father, husband, and most importantly: Pappy.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Dayton Hess (1990) and mother, Nancy Stoner (2021). He is survived by wife, Sandra “Sandy” Hess of Kuna, ID; daughter, Miranda Schell (Thomas Ushman) of Hummelstown, PA; son, David Hess (Adam McKee) of Niceville, FL; and daughter, Sarah Lett (Lucian) of Kuna, ID, and brothers: Charles “Chuck” Hess (Dena) of Wellsville, NY, and Randolph “Randy” Hess (Bethany) of Robertsdale, PA. Also surviving are his treasured and dearly loved grandchildren: Aiden Schell, Jaxson and Ellie Lett, and Alexis and Thomas Ushman, Jr.
