Caroline Wolfe

Obituary of Caroline Elizabeth Wolfe

Caroline was born June 21, 1938, in Boise, Idaho to Theodore “Ted” and Dolores Downing. She lived on Ellis Street and began school at Lowell Elementary. When she was 8 years old the family bought a farm on Floating Feather Road northwest of Eagle. She lived there and attended school in Eagle. In 1956 she graduated from Meridian High School. Shortly afterwards she married Neil Pierce and had their three children. Music was a passion of hers and she played piano all through school and was very talented. She taught piano, played for the Baptist Church in Eagle and for various events throughout her life. In 1992 she married Vinton Lee Wolfe. They lived in McCall and camped, took white knuckle drives in the Land Cruiser, fished, and traveled. She loved babies and when she became “Nana” she thrived in that role and they spent a lot of time at birthday parties and school events, which are documented in her boxes and boxes of photos. Eventually they moved to Nampa where Vint was raised and together they created a wonderful home. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2018. Vint kept her at home and cared for her until her last breath. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she left this earth on June 1, 2023.

The nurses, physical therapists, social workers, and caregivers from both Encompass and Doctors Hospice of Idaho were all amazing. We will continue to sing their praise and are eternally grateful for their professionalism and compassion during this battle.

Caroline is survived by her husband Vint;  her children, Barbara (Flavio Rodriguez) Pierce of Midvale, Matthew Pierce, and Debra (Butch) Pierce Richardson, all of Boise; Vint’s children Glen (Jullee) Wolfe of Nampa, Perry (Lisa) Wolfe of Caldwell; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren; her sister Ann Anderson of Seattle,  her brother Bruce Downing of Minneapolis, and her sister Cathy (Steve) Claybaugh of Boise;  numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who all loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Sylvianne Downing and brother-in-law Fred Anderson. Rest in Peace dear Nana…
