Obituary of Glen Albert Linder
Glen Albert Linder, age 86, died June 10, 2023, at St. Luke’s Meridian. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11 am at Meridian United Methodist
Church of the Warm Heart at 240 E Idaho Avenue in the sanctuary with Pastor Mike
Benischek presiding. A Celebration of Life and dinner will follow in the FLC
building. Graveside service will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park at 2 pm.
Glen was born on May 31, 1937, in Payette, Idaho to parents, Murell and Mary Jane Linder. He grew up with his two siblings, Bill Linder and Mary Lou Hart. He graduated from New Plymouth High School in 1955. While in high school, he played football and was Student Body President. He married Betty Clinton and they had three daughters, Janet, Jeanne, and Jerri. He attended University of Idaho and graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1959. He moved to Shelley, Idaho, and taught Agriculture and Welding for two years. His second teaching assignment was at Meridian High School teaching Ag. He was state coordinator for FFA (Future Farmers of America) and supervised his students in many FFA competitions. He then moved to the State Department as Vocational Education Director for the State of Idaho. From the State Department, he served as the Dean of the Vocational School at Boise State University from 1970 to 1982. He was beloved by the faculty and started several new vocational programs in his tenure at BSU.
In 1982, Glen left Boise State University to take a job in Spokane, WA with Northwest
Crop Insurance. He was a field representative for crop and hail insurance and federal
agricultural programs. Glen traveled a three state area and handled the book of business placed by him for insurance agents throughout the area. The agents he served placed much trust in Glen. They loved his caring, witty sense of humor and his vast knowledge of agriculture. Glen and Karen hosted many company trips to various countries and states. A number of agents Glen served became friends for life. On October 16, 1982, Glen married Karen (Buttram) Adkins, and they were married for 40 years until the time of his death. Karen had two daughters, Lisa and Jodi, and Glen became the father of five girls. Lisa and Jodi called him their “fake Dad,” with much affection. Glen and Karen enjoyed many activities together. Two of their favorite places to spend time were at their cabin in Cascade and the Oregon Coast, primarily in Lincoln City.
Glen loved his family. His daughters brought such happiness to his life, and he loved to hear stories about his grandsons and granddaughters. Glen and Karen had five daughters, Janet Lynette Linder, Jeanne Lynn DeBord, Jerri Louise Madison, Lisa Martine Miller, and Jodi Lynette Hiner, and three son-in-laws, Ed DeBord, Brian
Madison, and David Miller.
Glen was preceded in death by his father, Murell Linder; brother, Bill; sister, Mary
Lou, and his mother, Mary Jane Stith. He is survived by his wife, Karen Linder; five
daughters; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
