Lance was born to Gerald and Roberta Lightfoot on May 22, 1961, in San Francisco and raised in South San Francisco, California, later moving with his family to Jackson, California, where he then graduated from Jackson High in 1979. Lance, beginning at age 14, worked as a welder, becoming highly skilled in many types of the trade. Lance welded for PG&E, the family business Lightfoot's Radiator & Welding, Motive Power, Western Trailer, and finally Aero Specialties.

He met the love of his life Deanna in 1981 at Galli's drive-in, located in Jackson, California where she worked. They were married in 1984 and were excited to start their life together. They spent their newlywed years in San Francisco where they enjoyed exploring the culture and excitement of city life. They then decided to move to Sacramento to start their family, eventually returning to Amador County to raise their two children: Jennifer and Gerald Lightfoot. Off on another exciting adventure, they landed in Meridian, Idaho in 2005, where they would come to enjoy the outdoor experiences of fishing and camping.

He was a loving husband, awesome father and brother, amazing Papa, and an incredible friend to many. He enjoyed many activities, he loved the game of golf, gardening, cooking, playing video games, and collecting Hello Kitty memorabilia. Spending time with his grandchildren was one of the greatest joys in his life. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and of course his favorite saying, "Meow Meow!"

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; mother, Roberta Lightfoot; who passed shortly three days later on July 9, 2023; his daughter, Jennifer Lightfoot (Bart); son, Gerald Lightfoot (Vanessa); two sisters: Holly Lightfoot-Sheehan (David dec: 2020) and Kristi Wise (Kevin); grandchildren: Ashton, Spencer, Jace, and Emma, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Lightfoot.
