Obituary of Trevor Joseph Schwehr
Trevor Joseph Schwehr, 25, of Star Idaho, passed away on July 10, 2023 from brain cancer.
Trevor was born September 15, 1997 to Ed and Patty Schwehr in Boise, Idaho. After graduating from Eagle High School in 2016 at the top of his class, he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2020. He was awarded a National Science Foundation scholarship and moved to Baltimore, Maryland to attend Johns Hopkins University where he conducted magnetic and surgical equipment research and received a Master of Science in Engineering Robotics in May 2023. Trevor also has three patents in his field of study.
Trevor is survived by his father Ed Schwehr, mother Patty Twomey Schwehr, loving sister and brother Megan and Devin, and girlfriend Cate Welsh as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He met his lovely girlfriend Cate in late 2021 in Baltimore. Their love and devotion to each other was amazing to see. Cate stayed by his side with strength, faith and pure love to the very end.
Trevor was brilliant, loving, fun, sincere, driven, and loyal. Trevor was able to make lifelong friends everywhere he went. He was passionate about using his medical robotics research to help others and was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith. Trevor enjoyed a wide variety of different activities. When outdoors he loved hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing, and boating. He was a talented and dedicated football and lacrosse player, earning deep respect from many of his teammates. His evenings were often spent playing darts, billiards, board games, and cards with friends and family. This love for people and new experiences took him all over the United States, as well as Mexico, Ireland, England, Italy, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. No matter what he was doing, Trevor always gave his full effort. He was a strong brother and leader in Phi Delta Theta Utah Alpha chapter, as well as an active member of both the Knights of Columbus and Order of Malta. When in Baltimore, Trevor often volunteered at Sts. Phillips and James.
The outpouring of love and support for Trevor these last months has been incredible. High school friends visited him at home, cards and gifts arrived daily, family and friends visited from near and far, and so many people have been praying for him. Trevor’s family and Cate would like to express their gratitude for all the kindness shown to him and them.
Services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian Idaho with a wake and rosary on Friday, July 21 at 5:00pm and funeral mass on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00am. Reception and lunch to follow in parish hall.
The family requests that any donations in Trevor’s name go to either the Cancer Research Institute (Cancer Research Institute) specifying Brain Cancer research OR Sts. Philips and James Catholic Church (Donate to General Fund) in Baltimore, Maryland.
