Obituary of Viola Gallegos
Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at age 84. Viola “Lolly” was born in Pueblo, Colorado on April 2, 1939, as one of six children to the late Modesto and Helen Trujillo.
During her high school years, Lolly met Vergil when Vergil’s brother was dating and later married Lolly’s sister, Loraine. Vergil and Lolly were meant to be. In 1958 they moved to Garden City, Idaho and started their family. While Vergil established his painting company, Gallegos Painting, Lolly worked jobs as a lunch lady and as a technician at Micron Technology.
Upon her passing, Lolly Gallegos was reunited with the love of her life. She was a beloved wife of 55 years to Vergil. She is survived by 3 of her 4 children: Tim (Jody), Toni (Andrew), and Jeff (Regina). Her eldest son, Kenny (Teresa), preceded Lolly in death in 2021. Lolly was a beloved grandma to eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and she was looking forward to becoming a great-great-grandma in October. Beyond her grandkids, Lolly was an acting grandma to numerous other people who were drawn to her fun, loving ways. Lolly also loved her pomeranian, Raider.
In her free time, Lolly was an active member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, playing games, gambling, camping, traveling, watching movies, volunteering at the St. Mary’s food bank, and anything else that involved those who meant the most to her.
Her kindness, smile, words of wisdom, and devotion to family will be tremendously missed and always remembered. The way Lolly lived life was a reminder to pause, to take a moment, and appreciate the simple yet profound beauty that surrounds us. It's about finding joy in the little things and appreciating the miracles that unfold before our eyes each day. Let us embrace the beauty, the magic, and the wonderment that life has to offer, and fill our hearts with gratitude and joy. Lolly was always the life of the party. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. Her family and friends will miss her smile and the joy she brought to life every day.
Services will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd. in Meridian. On Thursday, July 27, 2023, a Rosary will be held at 1 P.M. followed by the funeral mass at 2 P.M. After the service, there will be a gathering and potluck lunch in the parish hall.
On Friday, July 28, 2023, Lolly will be laid to rest at 2 P.M. at Dry Creek Cemetery at 9600 W. Hill Road in Boise, surrounded by beautiful weeping willow trees, next to her husband and eldest son.
