Obituary of Paul David Hoagland
Paul David Hoagland passed away, August 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nampa, Idaho on August 7, 1949. He joined parents, Glen and Mabel Hoagland (deceased) and older sister, Susan, at their home in Reynolds Creek.
As a youngster, he roamed the Owyhee Mountains, especially the Reynolds Creek area. He loved fishing, always catching more fish than anyone else, and later hunting this beautiful area. Paul spent his whole life in the Treasure Valley. He was a licensed electrician. He owned Hoagie’s Electric, and later worked as an electrician for Idaho State Department of Corrections at the prison near Boise. He married Esther Louise Smith on June 1, 1996. In 2010, they moved to the top of Southside Boulevard where they could look out across the Melba Valley and over to the Owyhee Mountains, especially Soldier’s Cap that led to the Reynolds Creek valley.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; children: Laura and Lance Thomas, Jon and Lori Hoagland, Glen and Wendy Hoagland, Travis and Stana Hoagland, Jim and Melissa Richardson, Tina and James Fisk, Aaron and Jo Smith; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister, Susan and Del Bale; nieces and nephews; numerous Hoaglands’, and lots of great friends. We all loved him so much and are going to miss his smile and quiet ways. He was our hero.
A funeral will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 26th at the Melba Friends Church, 301 Randolph St, with a graveside service at the Melba Cemetery, and a gathering will follow at the church. All are welcome to stop by. In remembrance of Paul’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Melba Fire Department.
