Obituary of Ellen Smith Keifer

Ellen Smith Keifer was born May 26, 1949, in Augusta, Georgia to Guy and Mary Smith. She passed away peacefully at home, August 28, 2023. 

Ellen grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and Monroe, Louisiana.  While in high school and college, she began a career in department store retailing. This led to becoming the head dress buyer for Macy’s stores in eastern Kansas.

Ellen then relocated to Boise, Idaho with a career change to the banking industry, along with taking advantage of all the recreation Idaho has to offer, including: golf, camping, jet boating, fishing, and BSU football.  Ellen was a great person who was always more willing to give than take.  She spent many years delivering Meals on Wheels to homebound Idahoans, and lending a helping hand wherever she could.  May she rest in Peace. 

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Guy, and Mary Smith; brother, Carl Smith; and sister, Susan Smith Sparks. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jack Keifer; son, Pete (Lori) Keifer; 8 grandchildren, whom she adored; numerous nieces and nephews; and all of her wonderful friends who are left to cherish her memory.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
